Though Valentine’s day brings mixed feelings amongst people, I think it is a holiday meant to show people you love, LOVE! This is the desktop calendar wallpaper for the month of October 2011 which is a picture of a pink and green orchid. We are in the last quarter of 2011 and have three months to pick up our feet and make the best of the year. October also marks a couple of special occasions such as Thanksgiving in Canada and Hallowe’en. Let’s make 2011 a year to remember for it is never to late to start today.

If you aren’t aware, October is breast cancer awareness month and is organized by major breast cancer charities to increase awareness of breast cancer and raise money for breast cancer research. I know a couple of people who have had the disease and family/friends of whom it has effected and I wanted to support the cause and spread awareness.

Breast cancer is the most frequent diagnosed cancer in Canadian women with an estimate of 23,200 woman and 5,300 deaths in 2011. (source: Canadian Cancer Society) If you are a woman between 50-69 years old, please get a mammogram every 2 years for detecting the disease early can save your life.

September 11 Memorial Prayer

I just wanted to dedicate this September 11 memorial prayer for those who have passed and to the families and friends whom it has directly affected. I have fond memories of this day for New York City is one of my favorite cities to visit and have so many loved ones whom live there. I was just in New York City and visited ground zero and I’m happy to say that New York is starting to rebuild from September 11. My heart goes out in memory of those lives that were lost that day.

September marks the changes of season from summer to fall or for students it is the start of a new school year. The last time I went to New York City Lemar and Nicole were with their first child, L’il X, and my recent visit they are expecting their second child, so I had to take a couple of snaps of Nicole’s baby bump portrait. She is due in a couple of weeks and wish them the best. I wish I was their to take some snaps of their little one, hopefully they will fly me out to New York (wink, wink … lol).

As I was walking home from Yoga class I looked up to admire the beauty of God’s creation of the sun peaking through the sky and had to capture it with my iPhone 4 which led me to create a free desktop calendar for my lovely followers. Sometimes life can be tough and you just need to look up in the sky to bring you back to earth.

I can’t believe it is already August and most of my summer was spent in New York city but I’m back in Toronto, slowly getting back on the grind. When I was in school I remember August was the reality that summer is coming to a close, slowly but surely, but instead of counting the days we should appreciate the sunny days we have in front of us.

June was a great month but July marks it official as summer which inspired the design for the desktop calendar wallpaper for July 2011. July is the hottest month in the Northern Hemisphere, schools out, summer school starts, public pools are open, beaches are flourished with flesh, ice cream parlours are making big bucks, street festivals and events are happening, and overall the energy is just at an ultimate high. What I love about July is that it usually starts with a long weekend, whether you are in Canada or the United States – celebrating Canada Day or July 4th, it really starts the summer with a big bang! This year I will celebrating July 4th in New York City!

Since I have an iPhone 4 I decided to add a new resolution compatible with iPhones which is the size of 640×960. It was a little bit challenging for the dimensions are different from regular screen resolutions and I had to move the text to fit. On your iPhone just save and make it your iPhone wallpaper.

Life of the Lonely Traveller

When I travel it seems I always travel alone but most of the time I have people I visit in those places. I guess I commute on my own for the most part and this is just a glimpse. I got my iPhone before my trip to New York City for I broke my point and shoot camera in Shanghai last year. This was my alternative and I must say I have fallen in love with the phone despite the poor battery life.
